In this day and age having a smartphone is a great tool to book flights, hotels and find your nearest restaurants. With apps being so popular these days it’s hard to keep up with what’s good, and what are annoying and ad ridden. I’m going to give you 6 of my favourite travel apps that are very useful when travelling!
Skyscanner is a great app for searching flight prices and information. It’s very easy to use and is free to Iphone, Android and Windows. Not only can you book flights but you can book hotels and hire cars so it is a great all-rounder app. If you are not sure where you want to travel to just write in the ‘to’ box ‘everywhere’, and it will show you the cheapest place to fly to and from your desired airport.
XE currency is essential if you are heading to a country where you don’t have a great concept of how much everything is going to cost you. With XE you can quickly and easily check the currency exchange rate for the money of your choice. This app gives you live currency’s as well so it will give you the current rate and it has over 180 + countries added to their system. This app is free and available to Andriod, Iphone and Windows.
Uber is a taxi app. Uber has become very popular worldwide because you just click that you want an Uber to pick you up , you put your final destination in and it will give you the price and take it out of your credit card. Great idea if you don’t want to carry cash around with you for a taxi late at night, also it’s more reliable and you will never be over charged! You also have the option to split your fare! The Uber app is free and is available on Andriod , Iphone and Windows. It is available for 50 countries right now including America, NZ, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Indonesia and loads more!
Hostelworld is a great one if you haven’t already booked somewhere to stay for the night. It shows you detailed information about the hostel. It is so easy to book somewhere straight away! This app is free and available on Iphones and Andriod. This app has 30,000 hostels in 180 countries ready for you to book away!
TripAdvisor is a great platform. I use it all the time if I want to go do something but not sure where it is , how much it costs and if it’s worth it. It shows you great reviews about attractions, and if you need to find a place to stay this is a great app to use as well! The great thing about TripAdvisor is it is all based on reviews so you will get real opinions from real people around the world. This app is also free and available for Iphone, Android and Windows.
TripIt is a really handy app. You simply email all your flight, hotels, car rental or restaurant confirmation details to their email address, and they put a trip itinerary together for you so you don’t have to sift through emails to get the details. They put it all into one itinerary that you can access offline as well as online. TripIt is free and available on Iphones, Android and Windows.
So, these are my top 6 travel apps I suggest you have on your smart phone. Thanks for reading!
