Albanian Weekly Aventurës 7: Independence and Goal setting

This week the flags were out as the 28th is marked as Albania’s Independence Day.  On the 28th of November 1912, the declaration was signed in Vlore and the government of Albania was created.  I already think the flag (double-headed eagle) is badass, so seeing them flying around the city was cool.  I expected there to be a lot of celebrations but to be honest, here in Saranda I think everyone opts to stay home with the family.

With December rolling around its starting to get chilly, still a lot of sunshine though!  In fact, this week I published a post on what the best time to come to Albania is (read it here).  This is the perfect time for us to fly the drone and get some awesome footage and photos for A Daily Odyssey.  We flew around Saranda and it was amazing.  At this time, the colours are so intense and with no people around, it’s perfect!  We have lots of other locations planned to film soon and can’t wait to show you!

At this time of year, I start to think and reflect on what I have achieved so far and what I hope to achieve next year in terms of business.  There’s always lots to think about when it comes to this.  I’m a dreamer, like a BIG dreamer.  I always make unrealistic goals for myself, but this is good for me because it pushes me big time.

I’m currently creating a big list of 2019 goals, but I think the main one is to make the distinction more obvious when it comes to work and play.  I find myself working all day every day because it’s really what I love to do but then, I burn out easily.  This is one of my biggest personal goals which I hope to achieve next year.  My partner and I have started painting some evenings which has been super nice!  My grandma was an artist as well as her many other creative pursuits.  My mother was a quilter, an amazing one!  When I was young my mum taught me how to sew and how to design.  I used to have such a big passion for that but sadly, after she passed away when I was 15, I didn’t pick up a sewing needle anymore.  I lost the part of me which I hope to pick back up soon.  Creative pursuits are my hobbies, so I am going to leave the writing for working hours (even though it doesn’t feel like work because I love it!) and the other creative hobbies like sewing and painting as something relaxing and to do in my downtime.

I would love to know what your main goal for 2019 is.  Make sure you leave it down below!
